Gatsby
The pieces below have been created for a conceptual live-action adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Instead of 1920s New York, this version takes place in 1950s Los Angeles, with many of the locations being inspired by real places. Although major details from the book have been changed to reflect the new location, these concept designs honor F. Scott Fitzgerald’s interpretation of the illusion of the American Dream.
Everyday
Initially conceived as an animatic, Everyday details the events surrounding the detonation of the first atomic bomb at the Nevada Test Site.
Research for Everyday took me to the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here, I was able to see artifacts related to the project and fully realize the impact nuclear weapons have had on the world. The juxtaposition of an exhibit showing the commercialized aspect of the Atomic Age and an exhibit with remnants from Hiroshima and Nagasaki stuck with me, helping ensure that I tackled this sensitive subject in an appropriate manner.
